Employee State Insurance (ESI)

Employees' State Insurance (ESI) is a self-financing social security and health insurance scheme for Indian workers. The major objective of the Act was to provide certain benefits to employees in case of sickness, maternity and injury (during employment) and for providing other benefits in relation to the main objectives. This fund is managed by the Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) according to rules and regulations stipulated there in the ESI Act 1948.

Employee Provident Fund (EPF)

The main aim of the EPF scheme is to promote retirement savings for employees across India and its to build funds through regular, monthly, contributions made by an employee and his/her employer. The amount contributed to the fund is based on a fixed ratealong with interest on their EPF balances. Both the interest earned and the total amount withdrawn at maturity are tax-free.
